Add an animated signature to Proton Mail
Proton Mail’s signature field accepts a signature pasted from a builder. You set it once on the web and it applies to your account.
Proton Mail on the web
- Design your signature on BylineSig, then click Copy for Gmail to copy the formatted signature.
- Sign in at account.proton.me and open Settings, then All settings.
- Choose Identity and addresses in the sidebar.
- Scroll to Display name and signature. If you have several addresses, pick the address first.
- Paste into the Signature field and click Update.
On the mobile apps
The apps add a separate “mobile signature” in addition to your regular one. On Free accounts the “Sent from Proton Mail mobile” line cannot be changed or switched off; that needs a paid plan.
Does the animation play?
Proton Mail animates GIFs on the web and in its apps. Proton loads remote images through its own servers as part of its tracking protection, so the image is fetched by Proton rather than directly by the reader.
These steps follow Proton: Display name and email signature, last checked October 2026. Menus move; if yours looks different, tell us at [email protected] and we will fix the guide.
