Add an animated signature to Gmail

Gmail strips most HTML from signatures, but a hosted animation (a GIF) comes through exactly as designed. Takes under a minute.

Desktop (web)

1. Design your signature on BylineSig, then click Copy for Gmail.
2. In Gmail, click the ⚙️ gear icon → See all settings.
3. Under the General tab, scroll to Signature and click Create new (or select an existing one to edit).
4. Click into the signature editor box and press ⌘/Ctrl + V to paste.
5. Scroll down and click Save Changes.

Gmail mobile app

There is nothing to install on your phone. If no mobile signature is set in the Gmail app, it uses the signature you created on your computer, images included. So set it up on desktop (above), then in the app go to Settings, choose your account, and make sure Mobile signature is empty or switched off.

Troubleshooting

If the animation shows as a broken image, double-check you clicked Copy for Gmail (not Copy HTML) — Gmail needs the rich-text version, not raw markup pasted as text.
